The game offers two-player co-op online play through Xbox Live, while the single-player mode is designed as a simulation of the game on the movie screen, and includes various challenges. The game was released on the Xbox 360 Live Arcade and Kinect on July 22, 2014, and runs at 1080p and 30 frames per second, with a Kinect and Xbox Live equivalent of 60 frames per second.

The game also features a Training Lair, where the turtles can train in the martial arts techniques learned in the movie, and is the only place where players can play as Leonardo, Raphael and Donatello, as well as play as both Casey and the turtles. Casey can use items, such as a tennis racket, to attack enemies in the game. Players can move around Baxter Junior High as the main character, Casey Jones. In this game, players can play as all four turtles, as well as play as Casey. The game, which takes place between the events of the movies, sees the turtles, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and Splinter, as they go to Baxter Junior High to work on a secret mission for Casey Jones.
